“Favorite Things from the Off-Season”
Hey everyone, Bryan and Ryan here, back from our extended break! In Episode 224, "So Much Spaghetti," we dove into what we've been up to during our time off. Here's a quick recap of our "Favorite Things" from the off-season.
Bryan's Favorite Things
- Website Refinement: I've been obsessing over cleaning up our past Guided Studies, the "Into the Book" and "Cross Training" pages. We've been throwing "so much spaghetti at walls" since we started the podcast back on February 7, 2019, that it felt good finally power-putter around the site to clean things up!
- Daily Download Blog and Newsletter: We realized we needed a spot for more freeform writing. So, we kicked off the Daily Download Blog this season, along with our newsletter.
- Podcast Refinement: I think we’re always stretching to make the most of our time together, so we're going to try doing video of the podcast — along with posting some shorter clips on social media. Oh, and we've also added a link to the top of our Podcast page to submit audio questions or comments to the show.
Ryan's Favorite Things
- Bible Reading - Into the Book: Going back to our Into the Book reading plan as a church has been a really helpful way to start the year! But, as I mentioned in the episode, I'm not always "good" at staying consistent with these kinds of daily plans.
- Teaching Resources: I’ve begun to lean on the Square One and Cross Training material we put together in my teaching, especially with new disciples. I’ve also continued to enjoy using excellent resources in both systematic and biblical theologies. Systematic theology collects and organizes all the Biblical information on a subject so that we get a clear, orderly summary of a topic. Biblical theology aims to flesh those summaries out by following themes within individual books and collections of Bible books, tracing the way inspired writers develop the ideas, as they interact with the rest of Scripture and contribute to the greater story of Christ. As promised in the episode, here are a few links to some of my favorite resources lately:
- Working Through "Best Year Ever": Adrienne and I have been working through our usual yearly transition work — "Your Best Year Ever" — and we've enjoyed a little cabin time as well!
We hope you enjoyed this peek into our "Favorite Things" from the off-season! And be sure to tune in to our next episode as we get into the 2025 Bible Bracket!
